Great Recipe: Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

Don't let the name fool you.  This is, hands down, one of the best chicken recipes I've eaten.  Really flavorful and...mmm.  Thought I'd share with you all.  And, no...this is not my recipe.

Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken
Ingredients
  • 4 tsp. Brown Sugar, unpacked
  • 12 oz. Chicken Breast, no skin
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 2 tbsp. Butter, salted
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • Dash of Black pepper, black

Directions
  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan
  2. Brown the garlic in the butter
  3. Add chicken breasts to garlic and butter and cook thoroughly, adding salt and pepper as you like it.
  4. When chicken is fully cooked add brown sugar on top of each breast
  5. Allow the brown sugar to melt into the chicken (about 5 minutes)
  6. Serve with your favorite carb, and veggie or salad. We usually have rice or noodles and carrots or green beans.

30-Day Shred: Day 3

So...starting three days ago, I decided to really dive in to doing honest-to-God workouts, so I busted out my Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred DVD (which I have sadly never honestly done).  Let me tell you, it killed me.  I mean, not in an "I can't go on" sort of way, but it definitely kicked my butt.

I did the third day today.  Ideally you're supposed to do it every day, but I've decided not to totally murder myself and cut it back to M-F with a cardio workout on weekends.  I figure it'll prolong seeing the "30-day" results, but I'm ok with that.

Anyway...did Day 3 today and, while it did still make me sweat (and I mean SWEAT), I am starting to notice a difference on the cardiovascular front.  The weights and crunches are still killing me, but I'm already seeing an improvement with my ability to not have to stop to catch my breath as often.  Very satisfying.

Seeing as it's Friday today, I don't have Day 4 until Monday, but like I said I'll be putting in cardio over the weekend, so it's not like I'm going to be a total slacker.

Have a Happy Fourth of July!!!

Welcome to My Journey

So...as I was trying to fall asleep last night, it occured to me that I needed a place to really vent about how much working out can suck.  I'm not saying that it does, but there are those moments, when you just wanna roll over and quit.

I figure getting it written down here will either get it out of my system and allow me to keep on chugging rather than get hung-up on it...or on the off chance that someone actually bothers to read this and comment (which if my book blog is any indication will not be the case), they might give me some words of encouragement.

So...here I go.  As I'm not yet comfortable writing my exact measurements, so I'll just write down  how far I've come.

Since this is my first entry...I'll be putting the differences between my starting point until now.  Future updates will just be week-to-week.
